The Acorn Community Theatre was founded in 1987 by thespians Rosemarie Butler, Mary-Lyn Lewenhoff and Dee Day. Nestled in the glorious Perth foothills in Western Australia, our friendly theatre can be found on Manning Avenue, just off Albany Highway in Gosnells. There is ample parking and a regular bus and train service which runs from Armadale and Perth, stopping a short 3 minute walk to the theatre. Our theatre seats 28 people and in 2001 was celebrated in the Guinness Book of Records as the smallest amateur theatre in the world. We now call ourselves "The Smallest Theatre in the Southern Hemisphere", having been replaced by a British theatre situated in a toilet. *laughing* Inside this intimate space while you sit comfortably on seats from His Majesty's Theatre in Perth (bought when they were auctioned off in the early 1990's), you will be entertained by local people voluntarily bringing you an assortment of plays written by well known playwrights to locally produced plays. We preform 4 to 5 productions a year including a July Pantomime, variety nights, comedies and dramas. Also offered is a small membership which has approximately 30 people and we're always happy to welcome new members. Members act in a variety of roles, such as, acting on stage to producing plays or just come and hang out with a bunch of like minded creative folks. Membership fee is $20.00 for a single person or $30.00 for a family which lets you have your creative input at the theatre. A very small price to get your creative juices flowing and shared with others. Not feeling creative but still enjoy coming to the theatre? Then please check out our next show time, we'd love to entertain you.
Acorn's Next Production...
Acorn's End of an Era..
Sadly we at Acorn say goodbye to our Manning Ave, Gosnells venue which has been our home since 1987.
On behalf of the committee and members of Acorn Theatre we say thank you for supporting us.
